Subic workaway

i was sent to Subic to do some ocular visit for an upcoming event. went there also to somehow join Smart in the Le tour Pilipinas Biking event at Boardwalk. It was my first time to be in Subic for an overnight. usually, it was just a daytrip for me.

i never really appreciated Subic until that day. the place was sooo clean, everything is sooo organized, the food is great! and of course what a shopping hub it was.

At the Subic Gym: Trivia, Agua Bendita was shot here. haha

longest friday ever

March 26 was the longest, the most tiring and yet most productive day to date for this year. i started the day by attending a meeting which ended at around lunchtime. there were so many things going on with work right now in spite of all the challenges. but we’re trying to redefine the rules and break the barriers.

by lunchtime, my hs bestfriend called and asked if we could have lunch. i sooo miss thi wonderful girl so i instatly said yes. i brought my laptop wih me and some stuff since ill have to drop by to my apartment to get clothes that ill wear for the mvp olympics.

lunch with G at Recipes, GB3

after that, i met up with lalie to get the stuff i borrowed from her and so she could drop her luggage for her iloilo trip the next day. then went back to the office just to find out that another project im handling has a problem. some people from Singapore said that the fie given to them needed to be adjusted. i dont understand the reduce TAC to 100% means so i called up and emailed our creative agencies.

At 3pm, my officemate and i went to our building’s 7th floor to change for the mvp olympics. we were product representatives/muses of PLDT. and we’re to support our main muse Faith from PLDT Global to compete against other muses from different companies under the Metro Pacific Group. we rode the Speedster Bus fro RCB going to Meralco convoyed by the 2 myDSL drift cars. we just paraded in there and took photos with different people. (Gonna get copies from our official photographer tomorrow)

by 730pm i begged off from the dinner already. i had to go to the launch of U92 radio station at silver city with my friends thina and lalie. it was star studded but those we’ve been waiting for didnt come, our camera didnt work. so we just pigged out at the free snacks, below zero beer and haagen dazs ice cream. we had some heart to heart and planning talks while enjoying our frozen yogurts from california berry.

then we hurried to eastwood to catch my bestfriend’s despidida dinner at pasto. we were an hour late for it but the important thing is we made it. some friends were there already and just made fun of each other while joking around through knockknocks and who’s theres. we’re sure to miss her especially that everyone is not used to not having her around. she’ll be away for three months for a vacation in japan.

with friends at Pasto, Eastwood

awww. gonna miss this non stop photo sesh with my bestfriend

lalie and i went back to my apartment at around 3am to get her stuff. she changed clothes quicklu so she could catch her 4:45am flight to iloilo. i borught her to the airport and slept at around 5am. geeesh.

now, define tiredness!

para sa yo kapatid

last thursday, together with my big bosses and our media agency, we attended the trade launch of TV5 entitled “Para say kapatid” at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. we arrived there at aroud 7pm. the place was sooo huge and there was like a moile bar in every corner.

we found ourselves some seats almost near the stage then got servd with dinner. i loved the salad and the dessert. while having dinner, the men and women from resort world performed breathtaking stunts. geeesh!

the main objective of the event is to showcase the new line-ups of shows and what is in store for advertisers. it was hosted by Paolo Bediones and Ryan Agoncillo.

i wasn’t able to take photos with the celebrities because i got shy to my bosses and to our media agency. i mean, its just that they are not as ma-showbiz as i am. hahaha. gotta show some class to nights like this. whew!

my first-round of dinner. haha

i never realized that lucy torres-gomez is that pretty until that night

the hosts

maricel soriano and tuesday vargas

to cap-off the night, tv5 gave away a brand new toyota vios plus macbook, sony ericson cellphone, myDSL free subscription with desktop, spongebob items to just one winner.

all we got to do that night is to guess the exact amount of the vios and all those things placed inside it and text it to some number and voila, it will be instantly given to you for guessing it right.

and from the texters who did not win, 100 texters were drawn and were given brand new digicams.

that person from Nestle Philippines was so lucky to have won the vios! whoa!

the idiot’s guide

Since my job is requiring some knowledge on marketing and brand management, i borrowed these books from my friend to have a better understanding of how things go. the best thing about these books is that they speak my language. hahaha. it’s not as formal as the other business books in fully booked. i just loved it. i was even surprised that when i googled for the title, i found a lot of idiot’s guide to whatever topics. seriously!!!

the world of advertising

my new job is involving a lot of advertising. it has been requiring me to be crazily creative, with a lot of limits combined with an endless array of things i can combine. all in all, its giving me headache. while trying to research of the basics of marketing/advertising, i came across these creative ideas. i thought they were brilliant.

the big move.

okay, so i waited for this for like a quarter of a year. going through that application process which seemed to have no ending, made me almost give up and stay where i am. in a few days, i’ll have to face a new environment, do another adjustment, keep those bank uniforms and fit my own-styled corporate attire, conquer new challenges.

this decision is a risk. im back to my probationary status, no bonuses and leave credits for the next six months, so im actually terrorizing my tenure. but i believe im also building my career and eventually, my life.

our CEO told me yesterday before i left for home that i should see him. i was wondering if he already knew that I am leaving the bank or there’s something he would ask me to do? sigh! His daughter talked to me already, she wished me good luck and i was really amazed by her charm and humility. I mean, who am i for them anyway? Our CEO is just the 38th richest person in the country according to Forbes last year. and me, just a plain employee of his bank.

i consider that an achievement though. in his world, where everything happens fast, where everyone is just another face, he somehow remembered the connection of my face to my name. im still wondering what it could be we’ll talk about this afternoon or maybe tomorrow, whenever. i hope i could break the news without assumption. i know they could get another me or maybe someone better in no time.

of course it breaks my heart to leave some people who i considered as friends already. a lot of them have been very supportive of my move right from the start. the excxitement of meeting new people is equally scary. but i guess, that’s how life is, we have to give up good things for something we think will make us better.

i hope one day, i’ll go back to see them again and hear ourselves share sotries of successes and inspiration. :)

Hardrock Cafe

Why am i getting fat? hmmm. let me count the ways. its actually on times like this. When boss cant attend a meeting and he’ll assign one of his staff to go there instead.

He asked me one Thursday to attend the PANA (Philippine Association of National Advertisers) meeting and luncheon at Hard Rock Cafe in Glorietta3. I was so excited because of the food. Honestly speaking, if it’s gonna be taken on my situation and the payment for the food will be taken out of my pocket, i won’t be able to afford their food. Or maybe i can, but id rather not.

The meeting was about some industry and economic forecast for 2009. believe it or not, the speaker fro the University of Asia and the Pacific said that Philippines will somehow progress in the coming year. And also, OFWs working in the US will be gravely affected beacuse of the recession and financial crisis US has been experiencing.

It was a very fruitful meeting. ive learned a lot and met a lot of people.
