Wine ed with sisses

this started when we organized a sort of send-off dinner for one sis. unfortunately, she wasn’t able to come to that send-off dinner. yet we decided to push through with the activity. and so we have also decided to do some sort of thing every month the first official SANday was held at Bordeux Wine Bar and Restaurant at the Bonifaci Global City.

One sis used to be a brand ambassador for one of the country’s top wine brand. she taught us the basics of wine, like how to know where it came from and how to drink red and white wine. i never knew that there are different glasses depending on the wine that one will drink. she also said that wine is not a beverage but it should be taken with food because it is a flavor enhancer.

Bordeaux is such a nice place for intimate dinners and more of like a chill out spot. It is kinda pricey though but well, at least we’ve learned something new. also, the staff of the resto were very nice. :)

Braserie Boheme by the Gustavian

it was a long time since i went back to the upper east side of makati. i always explore the west side since my friend who lives in alfaro place migrated to new york (but back to the country again). What i love about the east side of Makati is that the facade is relatively newer than that of the west.

i love how majestic One Salcedo Place looks like and how safe you’ll feel in that community. The weekend bazaar showcasing international cuisine in Salcedo Park is a must see for everyone.

There’s this new building there which my friend said looks like a German architecture, like those buildings in Berlin. I didn’t really care. i wouldn’t know the similarities and the difference anyway since i haven’t ever been overseas. we decided to dine at the new restaurant in the Picasso building, it is a newly built building, and included in the Serviced Apartments category just like the Ascott.

Braserie Boheme is a European Restaurant. and for only 390php you’ll get a full meal and combine it based on your own taste. i had mushroom soup, and then steak, and mango crepe plus a glass of wine! the ambiance is very radiant and it felt so grand with all those artworks on the wall. the best time to go there is at 6pm because when dinner time comes closer, the place gets filled up by expats and business executives from the village. and you’ll know it’s authentic because the chef (i guess he’s italian) goeas around to check customers’ reaction.

level-up eating

it was my college bestfriend’s yearly performance bonus, and her tax is a whopping 20k, so imagine how much the full amount was. and because of that, she treated me to dessert and then dinner. haha. crazy, i know. we had frozen yogurt at red mango before we ate dinner at CYMA, a greek reataurant in Greenbelt 3. i’m a fan of healthy eating and well discovering new cuisines. i may not have the luxury to go around the world yet to have a taste of other countries’ specialties, but im sure to have friends here who are willing to give me and to accompany me to get close to that global taste.

we had Roka Solata as a starter, i super loved this salad because of the shredded cheese, which by the way i learned to do from travel and living cooking show. to achieve that thin texture, use a peeler. it even applies to chocolate blocks. i loved the sugar-coated walnuts and of course the fresh lettuce. then we had Gyros and grilled blue marlin for the main course. i super loved it. OPA!!!

Gyros

And to celebrate my 1st salary from my new job, i treated my bestfriend to lunch at Holy Cow. I loved their beef brochette. well, that’s what both of us ordered anyway, we were so full that we can’t get dessert right after.

back in college, i remember that my friends and i had our high-end dinners at Chocolate Kiss whenever there’s a reason to do so. Like passing a difficult exam, being a chaperon to a friend’s date, meeting up with friends who gone overseas then came back to visit. Chocolate kiss was as status symbol back then already, but for us, it where good things were celebrated. my college bestfriend and i used to have our dinners at nearby carenderias from our pink boarding house. it was back thenn, when P100 bucks can get you a long way. but wait, i’m not that old. haha. it’s just that, as my college bestfriend put it, “LEVELLING-UP” and another friend said, “nothing is too god for the working class. ” :)

a taste of UP in Makati

while still dealing with a hang over this morning, i forced myself to get up and catch brunch with my housemate at Rodic’s along Rufino. of course we ordered the infamous tapsilog, which is now 70php. i remembered that it was priced at 55php when i first ate at their branch in UP. but anyways, the shredded-sweet tapa is exactly the same as that one they serve in UP. they even have this grafitti wall where different university scenes were shown…haaay, i sooo miss college.

super sulit sumptuous sumo sam

I think, this fancy japanese resto in the corner of Archeology wing of the Powerplant mall is the cheaper version of John and Yoko in Greenbelt 5. They’ve got tasty maki, salad, bacon and asparagus, oysters, etc. We ordered The Arena, a set of meal (good for 4-6 persons) good for sharing containing all those above and some others but i forgot the name for only 1,200 pesos. not bad!

When i ate at John and Yoko, we paid one grand for 2 people. sigh! but food is great still and the green, blue and red iced tea are refillable.

but, sumo sam’s house tea is equally good and super fragrant! :

sigh im such a fan of Jap food. :)

funny, fruitful lunch out

me and my officemates went out for lunch at rcbc plaza. one of them just decided to treat me and the other to lunch because we’re giving so much kindness daw. or maybe it was just so sweet of him to do so.

anyways, we chose piquant. i don’t really know what cuisine of food they are serving but they are good, and healthy. and they say, it is where the white people eat. true enough, literally, they do eat there.

surprisingly, the person beside me happened to be the former prime minister of the country during President Marcos’ time. hahaha…funny

we just talked about sooo many things, like seeing the world in a new light, building friendships and relationships with others, choosing one’s battles, and basically never ending looking for our daily happy pills. :)

seaside seafood market and restaurants

at the eve of my birthday, my whole clan went down south for a stroll. our first stop was Mall of Asia where my aunt, who is Dubai based, bought stuff to bring home to UAE.

then we went to seaside seafood market and restaurants along macapagal blvd near one esplanade and sofitel. Upon going down from our cars, a pool of people will incessantly convince you to eat and have your food cooked at their resto. they have different techniques in doing so even bashing at each other which i find really funny. hahaha.

anyways, we chose a posh looking resto with unlimited videoke. the idea here is that, you’ll be the one to choose the raw seafood to be cooked from the market. then you will tell the resto to cook it in a specific dish.

we were 21 people.

seafood bought: 2, 000php

resto charges (cooking charges, bowls or rice, sofrdrinks, beer): 4, ooophp

buffet treat

after a long morning, me and my bestfriend decided to have lunch at makati. while thinking about the popular unexpensive choices, we ran through a poster of guilly’s island in glorietta 5. they are now serving lunch buffet at 239php with free glass of iced tea. it was a great treat. there was like 10 different viands to choose from. japanese treats like maki, pasta treat and desserts. it was really a great buy!

how i just broke this week’s goal

IKR! yesterday i swore to not eat oily, fatty and sweet foods! but the third spec i really cannot give up.

that very same day when i made the pact, i broke it. after work, met up with a friend in krispy kreme in ayala ave.. they treated me with my all-time fave original glazed donut. and to be not as guilty i just told them na water na lang drink ko.

after krispy kreme, went to people’s palace in GB3 for dinner with another friend. it was his treat for whatever reason. so fab dinner pero i chose pomelo salad, healthy chicken with basil and lapu-lapu plus the ever famous thai tea! (learned about the thai tea in cebu). i really dont plan on having dessert since i had krispy kreme na earlier. but he insisted that the dessert there is superb plus i saw a large strawberry cake on one girl’s plate. but i ordered a panacotta instead.

haaay! sinful eating. then went to the ever peaceful travel cafe @ GB5. i was so tempted to order coffee frappe but stopped myself from doing so, so i just had a watermelon shake. haaaaaayyyyyy!

meet-ups talaga makes it harder for me to keep up with my goal. geesh
