saturday was supposed to be a busy day for me. we’re supposed to do business meeting and delivery in the afternoon, then meet up with my bestfriend after that. i was awaken by my alarm clock at around 7am, which i forgot to put off during weekends. i opted to stay in bed since my meeting will be at 130pm and besides, its raining so hard.
at 10am, i forced myself to wake up. i told my housemate that i can’t go home with her to bulacan just yet because of that too mane errands. but the rain was not stopping and flood is beginning to rise up outside our apartment. i told myself that i still have time. the delivery and business meeting was postponed and so im hoping that i could still meet up with my bestfriend by 3pm. but still, the flood was waist deep outside. so i called her up, and she said that the 1st floor of their company’s office was filled with flood water as well. they were lifting the important stuff to the second floor.
suddenly, the jeepneys that used to traverse the street outside our apartment was replaced by improvised boats with empty drums serving as floaters. the parking lot of our apartment was flooded as well. so pikka and i had really no choice but to stay in our apartment, watch out for the news, watch the will smith marathon on hbo, watch gossip girl season 3 pilot again, answer text messages and phone calls, call up my brother who was stranded in lrt, cook food, eat food, and sleep.
it was as well such a hassle that my brother left his sun phone at home in bulacan and i cant reach him through globe. i hope globe would improve their service. when i got my postpaid plan, i had to wait for 2 days to have it activated and last saturday, when i needed it the most, the network was busy. sun has become more reliable nowadays!
anyways, i learned that there has to be a stock of food and clean drinking water forever. candles, flashlights, and charged phones must be ready. although our area is one of the lucky few areas in manila which did not experience block out and chest deep flood, it still pays off to be ready.
by the way, the mrt ride today is P10 only to any destination and according to news it will operate 24 hours. its also nice to hear that outpouring support from the public and private sector was coming to help our compatriots who are still drenched in flood waters.
